Getting ready for the road

To be the best rider you can be, it’s important you have the right job kit and equipment. For example, the type of clothing you wear can change depending on the season you’re working and the city you’re living in. Also, the items you receive can change depending whether you start remotely. So it’s important you have a complete overview of what’s allowed. Here is an overview of the type of bike you can use, the equipment we provide, and all necessary information for when you’re out making deliveries.

What equipment do we provide?

Below is a table of all the items we provide. There are some optional items you can request depending on the city you’re working in and the starting location, as well as the items we don’t provide. 

What bike can I use?

While we’d love for you to be able to ride whatever bike you like, there are some bikes we cannot allow. This is due to road safety, reduced manoeuvrability and the possibility of food getting damaged on the way to the customer. And we really wouldn’t want that to happen. So, you can choose your preferred bike in the application process. Find more about the application process and how to select your bike here. And, depending on the bike you select (as well as the city you choose to work in), the bikes provided can change. Below is a list of prohibited bikes: 

• Mountain bikes

• Racing bikes

• Cargo bikes

• Recumbent bikes

• Tandems

• Speed pedelecs

• Self-built bikes

• Bikes without the mandatory CE-marking

• Cross-trainer-kind-of bikes 

Best Practices and tips and tricks

Beyond choosing the correct bike, you’ll also need enough phone battery when you’re out and about. When you start work, it’s vital that you have at least 80% battery on your smartphone with available data access. 

What smartphone can I use?

To use the Scoober app, you must have an Android or iPhone (iOS 10.0 or newer) supporting Google Play Services. It’s also important that you have a power bank charged throughout your shift so you can access the Scoober app while you’re on the road. 

How can I return my equipment?

For Remote Couriers, an online equipment shop is available for swapping, returning or requesting new work equipment. You’ll receive login details during the hiring process. Remote Couriers working in a hybrid city cannot access the equipment webshop, so you’ll be referred to the Hub in your respective city for any equipment changes.
