How do contracts work at Takeaway.com

Our goal is to ensure you make the most of your time as a Takeaway.com Brand Ambassador, and that you’re right for the job. That’s why we work with actual employment contracts, rather than hiring people on an independent basis. Getting your contract right is important - for you and for us.

Before we get into choosing your contract type, let's take a look at how our Brand Ambassador contracts work:

  • To work with us, you have to be 18 years old or above. If you’re currently under the age of 18, we hope you’ll apply to work with us when you’re able to.

  • Our contracts can have different lengths as well as different types (e.g. Interim, permanent or fixed). Don’t worry, we’ll explain more about this later.

What is a contract term?

A contract term determines your type of employment. In Belgium, depending on the city and available contracts, our Brand Ambassadors can either be hired in 2 different ways. First, through an employment agency and not be employed directly by us or second, hired directly with a Takeaway contract, either on a permanent or fixed term basis (subject to availability).

What are the differences between agency, permanent or fixed contracts?

Each type of contract has its own characteristics, which we’ll detail out below.

What is an employment type?

The employment type determines how many hours you’ll be requested to work within a certain period. You could either be working full time or part time. For part timers, the amount of hours can be set per week, or per month.

Although we try to take personal preferences into consideration as much as possible, the employment type depends on the hours available.

What are the different employment types?

These are the different contract options:

  • Agency interim contract (0 hours)

  • Permanent contract (40 hours per week, pre-defined shifts)

  • Contractual hours per week

    • 16 hours contract (minimum 16 hours per week, pre-defined shifts)

    • 24 hours contract (minimum 24 hours per week, pre-defined shifts)

    • 32 hours contract (minimum 32 hours per week, pre-defined shifts)

Frequently asked questions about contracts

Which documents do I need to submit?

In order to get started as a Brand Ambassador, you need to submit the following documents to our payroll partner:

  • A copy of your ID, residence permit or any official identification document provided by a Belgian administration

  • Driving licence (only when you’ll be using a motorised vehicle that requires one)

We’ll also need some basic personal information to set up the contract, such as your name, home address and date of birth.

What is your resignation policy?

The resignation policy depends on your type of contract. Fixed-term contracts will automatically end on the agreed end date, unless either party decides to opt out on an earlier date. For payroll couriers with either a permanent contract or a fixed-term contract, the applicable notice period is one month. That means we’ll still expect you to meet the hours agreed upon in the contract for the rest of the month, counting from the date of handing in your written resignation. Agency interim contracts can be ended anytime by both parties.
