Data Warehouse Engineer - Amsterdam

We are looking for our new data warehouse engineer. You, as part of the Data warehouse engineering Team, are responsible for supporting and improving the existing data warehouse. You need to be able to extract data from various sources , perform large scale data exploration, verify data integrity as well as to transform it to various formats requested by stakeholders in order to support their operational work, using the best tools for the job. You know what data modelling and data governance really are and you have implemented it as part of your previous positions, or you have been trained in it and you’re ready to dive in.

Your job

  • Structure the data warehouse applying the industry’s best practices.

  • Collect and transform unstructured data from different sources to structured output, be it columnar data store, flat or Parquet/ORC files, NoSQL, or streams.

  • Apply known “best practice” / “lessons learned” knowledge to create reliable, multiple times a day or continuously running agents, possibly aware of model changes and other possible occurring issues.

  • Collaborate excellently with the team and stakeholders in agile iterative processes.

Your profile

  • You have knowledge about how to model data and processes, how to test data, how to implement proper logging, and how to troubleshoot issues swiftly.

  • You have an extensive and proven professional experience handling big data pipelines.

  • You have worked with MPP databases like Redshift/Greenplum/Teradata/Snowflake etc or with DBMS like Postgres/Oracle/MySQL with a BI and/or analytics focus.

  • Experience in cloud is preferred (AWS/GCP/Azure).

  •  It would be good if you have worked with Spark/Hadoop.

  • You are familiar with parsing structured and unstructured data and creation of ETL pipelines for data warehousing.

  • You are familiar with data warehouse modelling methodologies such as dimensional modelling, data vault.

  • You are *very* experienced in SQL and can also use one or several programming languages - preferably Python.

  • You like clean code and ideas, and are able to strike a nice balance between speed of development and documentation plus testing.

  • You can write and speak English fluently.
