We’re in a time where deliveries and online orders make up more than half of the average restaurant’s business. With high volumes of orders coming in at certain times, it’s understandable that sometimes there will be orders that go out late.
There are a number of factors that could affect order times. Perhaps the dish was prepared a bit later than expected due to a lot of orders coming in at once. It could be that a restaurant is understaffed on a particular day and falls behind on their average order delivery time as a result of this.
While there are many aspects that influence your order getting to the customer on time, there are some things you can do to keep things under control. The most important one is keeping your customer informed. If you can forecast that a particular order will be late, get in touch with your customer and let them know about it.
Being proactive about late orders will likely help keep customers patient. If the order is going to be slightly late, sometimes all you need to do is give the customer a call, apologize for the late order and assure them it will be there soon. In other cases, orders are over 45 minutes late. Give them a call and explain the reason for the delay. If possible, give them something small in exchange for the wait.
Reaching out to your customers in these situations lets them know that you value their business and will surely keep them coming back to your restaurant for more.
