Do I have to tip?

Adding a tip is entirely up to you. We created the online tipping feature in direct response to customer requests for one! Adding a tip can be a nice way to thank your courier for delivering your order quickly and professionally.

How do I tip the courier using the new feature?

There are two ways to add a tip using our new online tipping feature. You can add a tip via the Food Tracker™ within 24 hours after placing your order, or you can add a tip via the Order History page up to 14 days after placing your order. You can access both the Food Tracker™ and Order History page via our website or app. In our app, you will also receive a push notification about your delivered order and the option to tip. By clicking on this message, you will be led to the tip payment window.

I want to leave a tip using the online tipping feature. How much should I tip?

That's very generous of you! On the Food Tracker™ or Order History page, you'll see an option to tip 5%, 10% or 15% of your order subtotal. Simply choose the percentage that you would like to tip.

What if I want to tip my courier in cash?

You can tip with cash at the door or with our online tipping feature. However, using our online tipping feature reduces the need for person-to-person contact, which is particularly important in helping prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Our top priority is our customers' and couriers' safety, so please consider using our online tipping feature if you decide to tip your courier. If you do decide to tip in cash, please maintain a proper social distance with your courier.

Does the entire tip go directly to the courier?

For couriers employed directly by Takeaway.com, the entire tip goes to the courier and is paid out as part of their salary payment. Tips may be subject to taxes where legally required. Restaurant partners who employ their own couriers are responsible for distributing online tips to their couriers and/or kitchen staff. We strongly encourage our restaurant partners to give all customer tips directly to their couriers, and we have informed them about the online tipping feature.

If I add a tip using the online tipping feature, will it count towards the minimum order value?

Adding an online tip does not count towards your minimum order value.

Why do I need to make a separate payment if I want to leave a tip?

When creating the online tipping feature, we wanted to ensure you could add a tip after actually receiving your order. This gives you greater flexibility in deciding when and how much to tip your driver. We are working to improve the tipping payment process to make it even easier in the future.

Can I add a tip online when ordering for pickup?

At the moment, it's not possible to add an online tip for pickup orders.
